LeXica Ltd lead (in 2004) the smooth evolution from client-server systems to web-based application services; and now (in 2014) leads the way towards mobile applications. Greater levels of working flexibility is needed to maximise productivity and using a mobile phone to access all business data is both logical and cost effective.|
The era of the keyboard and mouse will exist in parallel for the next decade, but the portable era of touch screen technology will smoothly evolve to replace what was done with a mouse. It would be silly to imagine that the same application design is applicable to both a mouse-keyboard computer and a touch phone-tablet device - application design must continually evolve.
|It would be silly for anybody to provide an application service on one very specific platform - flexibility means that all types of mobile phones and tablets must be supported. LeXica Ltd platform policy is very simple:|

* Initial testing uses an Android (85%) distribution library so the application can be distributed from a Google App Store.
* Secondary testing uses an iOS (12%) distribution library so the application can be distributed from the Apple App Store.
* Final testing uses a Windows (3%) distribution library so the application can be distributed from the Microsoft App Store.
* Linux, Mer, Ubuntu, Tizen and Mozilla (Firefox) devices are naturally supported using applicable browsers - downloading and distribution is not needed.
* Sorry Blackberry OS is not in any cost effective business plan, but any owner can make a proposal to influence the financial viability of this platform.
* Camera facilities require bespoke programming for each platform - for example; photograph and upload an image of a driving license or ID card demands platform specific library functions.
|Applications begin in a business-to-business context because that is where LeXica Ltd comes from and excels. However over time, the Apps created will tend to evolve into the public customer market because that is where most revenue can be earned. Because apps are generated from IEM specifications, the number of apps delivered to the market can become massive. Because the quality of LeXica Ltd apps is much higher than the competition, it is fair and reasonable to directly compete in many market places where revenue can be earned.|

Providing the best-in-the-world app in each market sector may begin by being at-least-as-good as competitors and then with continual improvements becoming the best-in-the-world. As a general rule, business data is too valuable and too important to be stored on an off-line mobile device that may be stolen or lost. When business data is saved, it must be encrypted and stored on at least two secure remote data centres - the local storage of valuable business data is rarely good enough. |Where an App needs to interact with its hardware sensors, then a native App is needed - HTML is not good enough. Because each native App must be restricted to its own operating platform and even a specific edition. Android means Java where Java is similar to PHP, but Google Java is only similar to Oracle Java.|
The fact that Facebook and Linkedin began as HTML Apps and evolved to native Apps is an indication that HTML is not good enough when hardware sensor integration is demanded. Where any native application functionality is demanded, then Android Jave is the only way to go - other platforms will demand an extra design and development team that will be hard to cost justify.
Java must be used for interaction with camera, accelerometers and speakers - photograph to upload needs a bit of Java. Google GWT and MGWT provide CSS transformations for desktop and mobile presentation layers. HTML Flexible Box Model must be used - DIV not TABLE. Design for mouse may be 2 pixels while design for touch may be 30 to 40 pixels - not compatible, no common design.
|Google, Apple and Microsoft are obliged to fight patent wars that must make each plaform unique and different to other platforms. Navigation must be unique, use of icons must be unique, gestures must be unique and even user interface controls must be unique. As each platform becomes more unique, it is hard to imagine how any generic HTML App can expect to match the user expectations for each platform.|
No common standards are expected for a decade, so Apple and Microsoft can only survive by getting more and more unique. The world has already adopted the Android user-interface method of working, so either only Android will survive, or some cross licensing deal will permit HTML to take on patented controls. With Google already at 85% of the market, it is fair to say that Apple and Microsoft have a lot to do just to stay viable.
|The mobile App market is saturated by a few big corporations that earn 90% of all revenues, they dominate all marketing and leave little room for independent vendors. Page ranking in each App store is controlled by big corporations who own many hundreds of Apps - their marketing budget dominates everything. Each App store is a licensed monopoly that is highly protected for each platform - these earn massive revenue streams.|
The Google App Store can be avoided with Android Apps downloaded from any web site - Apple demand only licensed Apps can be downloaded with revenue sharing. Many leading edge entreprenours have got out of the App market because it is saturated and dominated by a few big coorporations.
|It is self-evident that most App companies are built on the back of one good idea to boom and be sold. Big corporations are happy to buy proven App companies as a cheap research method that is free of risk and has good cash flow for many years.|
LeXica Ltd is very different, neither one good idea to boom and be sold or a big corporation buying good ideas as a kind of reasearch. technology exists to create long term cash flow with continual improvements - not a one good idea. LeXica Ltd exists as a way of life, rather than a short-term company to be sold for a one-off capital gain.

|In the good old day, making a product evaluation proof by incorporating every possible function was a way to win in the corporate business market. In the small business or trade market, simplicity is everything - attention span is no more than 5 minutes to learn a new tool to make them more effective. Very few people want to make themselves ten times more effective, they simply want to make their daily job a little easier - just a little so it is not a major change to what they do.|
People are frightened by change and so tiny improvements is the best they are willing to pay a tiny amount for. The fully comprehensive and totally integrated solution is anly applicable to companies with 20 or more employees.
Screen resolution must be stored in cookies. User preferences can be stored in cookies - they are deletable. What is in remote cookies cannot be globally analysed.
|Mobile processors are slow and battery life must be conserved with modest amounts of processing. Data can be downloaded in parts: initial screen data then load other data for subsequent processing - complex design.|
Mobile icon sizes are excessive and contary to mobile processing capabilities and the need to minimise download time - this means caching is critical. Manufacturers have excessive standard image sizes and densitities that create performance issues - but manufactures have dedicated staff to do optimisation. The cost of design and development is made artificially high by manufacturers who do not want killer apps to dominate any App store. By definition, to create a better user interface than Android would not be permitted.

Education begins with eBooks, ePublications, videos and anything that can provide education in a more effective way than the ineffective class-room. The education establishment has failed and will follow the retail market into a spiral of decay - scools are not good enough to give people the education they want. Marketing has evolved from slick adverts to education - people want the facts so they can make educated decisions, rather than be sold to. Timeing is everything - education is the new technology - YouTube has a head start and Amazon eBooks have a head start, but content is where the money is to be made. Education has a high demand and low supply - it is leading edge - it is easy to compete head-to-head with any school. Japan and Asia has proven that when given the choice, parents will pay for extra education for their children - mobile on-line is simply the cheapest delivery mechanism.
